In Redwing class 2 our topic of ‘Fire’ has burst into flames with the story of ‘Masha and the Firebird’. This Russian folktale tells the story of a little girl who helps a Firebird protect her magic eggs from the witch Baba Yaga. The children have done lots of writing about the characters with a big focus on adjectives. We will be designing our own egg and then decorating a 3-d egg. Remember to hide it somewhere safe so that Baba Yaga doesn’t find it!
In Maths we have been focusing on place value, we have been making a variety of 2-digit numbers and looking at the value of each digit in the number. The children have been demonstrating their understanding of numbers using dienes and place value counters.
In our foundation topics we have started looking at the Torah and how it is used in a synagogue. The children loved using the yad to read the Torah scrolls from right to left. We learnt that ‘yad’ means hand in Hebrew.
We have PE on a Monday and Thursday, please remember to bring your PE kit to school and keep it on your peg.
