Year 2 – Woodpecker

Woodpecker class have been working extremely hard during Spring term and have been producing some fantastic work!

The children have settled well with the change of teacher and are enjoying coming to school and learning new things everyday.

This term we have been learning all about South Africa through our topic work. We have learnt about animals in South Africa, food chains and classifying animals. The children have also enjoyed their English work through a number of South African picture books.

In maths, the children have been busy learning about fractions, place value and the tricky topic of time.

Next term, we will be looking at the topic of ‘Wimbledon’ and also ‘Plants’. We have some great learning to look forward to.

Woodpecker Class have PE every Tuesday afternoon and Friday morning.  We are very lucky to have coach Ryan delivering our PE lessons. Please ensure that the children have the correct kit in school for both PE lessons.

Homework is sent out every week on a Wednesday and is due back in on the following Tuesday. There will be a piece of spelling and handwriting which the children need to learn for a test on Tuesdays. Please complete this homework with your child and get them to think carefully about their handwriting and learning in school to help them. Please also try to read with your child daily.

It is a pleasure to be teaching the children of Woodpecker and I am excited for the rest of the year.
