Welcome to Stork class page! I’m Miss Spreadborough and would like to introduce Mrs Withers and Mrs Casse who will be your super Year 6 team!
We have had a busy first week back ready for our important final year in primary school. We have quickly settled back into our routines and are ready to rise to the challenge of being top of the school.
In Science, we will be building on our prior knowledge of Animals including Humans. The children will be able to use key information from previous years apply it to the new and exciting investigations that we will be doing throughout this half term. Our topic for this half term is Ancient Civilisations, we have already made a good start with this and are excited to be learning all about the Maya people and where they fit into the history of the world. We will be reviewing and designing our own Maya masks using various resources in DT.
Our text focus in English is the Jungle Book by Rudyard Kipling. This is going to be a fascinating read and will lend itself to a wide variety of writing throughout this half term.
We have already been using the handheld tablets to complete some research on our class bird and found out some fascinating facts; including ‘There are 1721 species of stork (depends who you ask). The largest, the Marabou stork, is 4.9 feet tall and has a wingspan of 10.5 feet!’
Stork class are really excited to be back at school and are ready to begin our journey to SATs in May!
